After travelling to the UK as a child, at 16 years of age he passed through a special course held at Woolwich, to become the youngest certified riding instructor ever in the British Army. Tom went on to train polo ponies, hacks, hunters and chargers in Poona, India, where his skill at reforming bad and difficult horses became noticeable. He joined the Australian Police Force during the
