Bronze Zommer Windchime museum publications piece by pieceThe Zommer Windchime has a bronze dome shaped top, from which hang five desert bells. Handmade by Janmamad Luhar and his family in the Kutchchi desert region of western India. Recycled steel is used to form the bells. Each bell is first beaten into shape by hand, dipped in copper, padded with clay, then buried under the hot desert sand in a kiln. This firing anneals the metals into bronze.
