Quarry Void beams This was the 1975 toolroomThe quarry void at Hornsby Quarry drops away into darkness, its dolerite walls rising steeply on all sides. Water has gathered at the floor, catching a pale reflection of sky. Quarrying here began around 1905 and continued until 2002, cutting progressively deeper through a Jurassic volcanic neck up to 120 metres deep. Part of the Hornsby Quarry series.
