It’s called Tom’s Thumb because at the end of the trail there is a tall rock with a little bump on top that people thought looked like a thumb

I have to tip-toe around my wet canvases to make sure I don’t knock them over

blues and greens were used in the background mountains and sky to make those areas of the painting recede

I thought the green foliage growing out from Black Mountain’s black granite was cool looking

Reflections 30x40 inches home It’s called Tom’s Thumb becauseThis winter, the Sonoran Desert had lots of rain that filled up the usually dry creeks. In this picturesque scene, I thought the reflections in the water looked dramatic and the colors dreamy. I think my painting captures the mood of the moment well and gives it a touch of fantasy, too.
